ChargePoint and Optimus Expand Fast-Charging Network in the Southeastern U.S.

ChargePoint and Optimus Energy Solutions are expanding their partnership to add more than 200 public charging ports across the southeastern United States, supporting broader access to reliable and convenient EV charging.

Under the agreement, ChargePoint will serve as the exclusive solutions provider, supplying the charging hardware, software, and services needed to support the network.

Optimus Energy Solutions will own and operate the charging sites, combining its regional operating experience with ChargePoint’s end-to-end charging platform.

More Than 200 Public Charging Ports Planned

The partnership is expected to add more than 200 new public charging ports to Optimus Energy Solutions’ growing network.

The planned installations will focus primarily on high-demand markets, helping address charging gaps in areas where reliable public infrastructure is increasingly needed.

Expanding the number of available charging ports can help support current EV drivers while preparing regional infrastructure for future growth in electric vehicle adoption.

Charging Locations Focus on Driver Convenience

Many of the new charging sites are planned for popular quick-service restaurants and retail centers.

Placing chargers near existing amenities allows drivers to use nearby dining and shopping facilities while their vehicles are charging, creating a more practical and convenient experience.

This approach reflects a wider change in the charging industry, where site location, reliability, accessibility, and surrounding amenities are becoming increasingly important alongside charging speed.

Technology and Operations Work Together

ChargePoint will provide the hardware, software, and services required to manage and support the new charging deployments.

Optimus Energy Solutions will be responsible for owning and operating the sites, with an emphasis on long-term maintenance and charger uptime.

The partnership allows each company to focus on its core capabilities. ChargePoint provides the charging technology and digital platform, while Optimus manages site operations and regional network development.

Why This Matters for the EV Industry

The next phase of electric vehicle adoption depends on charging infrastructure that is accessible, reliable, and located where drivers already spend their time.

Partnerships between charging technology providers and experienced network operators can help accelerate infrastructure deployment while improving long-term station management. Adding chargers in high-demand retail and restaurant locations may also make public charging more convenient for a wider range of drivers.

What It Means for EVIS America

This is exactly the type of charging infrastructure development shaping the future of electric mobility. As public charging networks expand, cooperation between technology providers, site operators, retailers, energy companies, and mobility stakeholders will become increasingly important.

That is where EVIS America 2026 becomes especially relevant. Taking place on November 3–5, 2026 in Toledo, Ohio, the event brings together automakers, charging providers, utilities, technology companies, and industry leaders to explore how infrastructure, digital platforms, and partnerships are supporting the transition to electric transportation.

Used EV Sales Continue to Rise

Used electric vehicle sales reached 42,923 units in May 2026, increasing 5.5% from April and 24.7% compared with the same month a year earlier.

The continued growth contrasts with the weaker performance of the new EV market and suggests that consumer interest in electrification is increasingly extending into pre-owned vehicles.

As more EVs complete their first lease or ownership cycle, the number of available models, brands, price points, and vehicle types in the used market is expanding.
